We are seeing a large increase of calls about Virus and Spyware infections.

A few things to remember are:

1: Be aware of the websites you are going to. 
There are many fake sites setup on domains that are easily misspelled.
Verify your on the correct site by checking the address bar.

2: Don’t update software from websites with popups about your flash player, adobe, browser or java is out of date.
If you feel a program is outdated, open a browser and go to the company site and update the software.

3: If you receive an email stating you need to change your password, do not click the link in the email.
Go to the website by typing it into the browser and then change your password.

4: Don’t open attachments in emails from UPS, FedEx, DHL, Amazon, eBay. etc.

5: Create strong passwords.
Always use mixed numbers and letters and keep them more than 8 characters long.

6: Avoid using Internet Explorer.
Download another bother such as Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox.

We are seeing an increase of systems infected with spyware and viruses this week. Several programs that you should update ASAP are Java and Adobe Flash Player.
It’s also important to run Windows updates to bring your system current with the latest security patches.
